液氯是一種淡綠色的油狀液體，劇毒品。液氯汽化后成為黃綠色氯氣，具有強烈刺激性的有毒氣體，比空氣重2.5倍。
氯是活學(xué)性質(zhì)很活潑的非金屬，能與金屬、非金屬及其它化合物進行反應(yīng)，也能與有機化合物發(fā)生鹵化、加成等反應(yīng)。
氯和氫氣混合后在一定的溫度和光照等條件下，會形成爆炸性氣體，其爆炸極限為5-95%。
